Warhammer Chaos / Blood Knights

My freind supplied 10 figs to make 2 units of 5 knights. He had 2 matching champions with horses, 8 more matching riders, a set of 6 matching solid cast horses and a set of 2 different horses to be used for standard bearers, but no actual banners.

Here's the Champion as given (except for the shield which went to a different fig.)

I can't stand matching figures in units that aren't supposed to be carefully uniformed and well drilled. These guys certainly shouldn't be that, so I asked if it was OK to customize.

Another friend had enough spare horse heads to allow each horse to have a different head, though I'd have to slice off the heads from the solid cast horses. He also had a Chaos Marauder Banner going unused. Still another friend had some crude "monster" weapons, spare polearms, some chaos shields, and some chaos space marine heads. Well on my way now!

From there, I went to Ebay and grabbed some vampire shields and banners and some chaos soldier weapons arms from Horde-O-Bits (check him out, it's unbelievable).

So it took some hacking and rebuilding of arms, some piecing of new helmet horns and even some carving down of new helmets and helmet ornaments by hand, but I have 10 figures with...
No Matching Horses (heads at least)
No Matching Rider Heads
No Matching Weapons
No Matching Shields

So here's the 2nd Champion. Changed out the horse head, weapon hand and shield. The helmet wings came from an extra vampire counts banner like the one used below.

4 more different knights

Even a musician!

And two Standard Bearers. The banners are loose and fit in holes behind the rider.

He can now field 2 distinctive units of 5 knights...once I get 'em painted.
